In many societies, fashion is becoming increasingly important in determining an individual's identity. Others argue that it leads to a superficial society where people are judged solely on their appearance rather than their character or abilities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
MODEL ESSAY / ANSWER
The significance of fashion in shaping one's identity has been a topic of much debate. While some view this trend as a positive way for individuals to express their uniqueness, others see it as a step towards a more superficial society. I lean towards the latter viewpoint and will explain why I believe fashion's growing importance is not entirely beneficial.
Firstly, the emphasis on fashion as a means of self-expression can lead to an over-reliance on material possessions to define one's identity. This materialistic approach may overshadow more substantial aspects of an individual's character, such as their values, beliefs, and abilities. For instance, a person's kindness or intelligence often becomes secondary to their outward appearance, which can be misleading and shallow.
Moreover, the pressure to keep up with fashion trends can also lead to financial strain for many individuals. The constant cycle of changing trends means that people feel compelled to regularly purchase new items to stay fashionable, which is not sustainable for everyone. This can exacerbate social inequalities, as not everyone can afford to participate in these trends, leading to a society divided by appearance.
In conclusion, while fashion can be a form of self-expression, its increasing importance in defining identity has negative implications. It promotes a materialistic and superficial society, overshadowing more meaningful aspects of an individual's character and exacerbating social inequalities. Therefore, it is crucial to find a balance where fashion is enjoyed without it dictating our identities.

View Detailed EvaluationSome people think that increase in the importance of fasion is the best way to determine one's identity however, they believe it is a positive developement which allows individuals to express their uniqueness. I completely disagree with this notion because individuals cannot be judged by their appearance and fashion, I think it all depends on their ability and character.
To begin with, nowadays people like to be trendy to attract others to judge them by their fashion. Some people think that, being fashionable means they are worth to have a good manners and character. However, it may be a positive development to some societies in this modern era, individuals are judging by appearance which reflects their quality of life and they know how to handle the community by their uniqueness also they don't care about the money to afford any fashionable stuffs. For instance, some people choose to being fashionable is the only way to express themselves in this contemporary era because they think appearance is matter of everything.
I firmly believe that character and abilities are the only way to judge a person not by their appearance because fashionable things are only for good looking. Fashion is only for showcasing their class of wealth which doesn't have a impact on public society. Although fashionable products consume lots of money from individuals. For example, middle class families earning low income but they choose to be a good-looking to judge by others .
In conclusion, although fashion allows individuals to express themselves and their uniqueness, I believe they also need a good character and abilities to accept by the communities, so they need to think how to express their appearance before acting towards the society.
